Nippo Head Office is built over a multilayered intersection of urban infrastructure, a traffic artery, an expressway, and a park. Nippo is a leading company in road construction. They define "Michi", which means "street" in Japanese, as the basis of their design concept as "what connects a variety of components". Santos House

Santos

Using wood as the main constructive element, the house displaces its two levels in section, generating a glazed roof to integrate with the context and allow natural light to enter. The double height space articulates that relationship between the ground floor, the upper floor and the landscape. A metal roof over the skylight flies, protecting it from the incidence of the western sun and formally rebuilding the volume, framing the vision of the natural environment. The program is articulated by locating public uses on the ground floor and private uses on the upper floor.

The project’s design concept is based on showcasing the history and culture of the ancient village whilst linking the old and the new. The Cultural Centre stands as a reinterpretation of an ancient village and a transformation into contemporary architecture.

Shared Yard

Shared

Shared Yard is a rural guest house located in Beijing, China. The old house was preserved and connected to new buildings made of carbon steel plate, concrete and white oak finish. Existing trees shade the new volumes, which are placed in ventilated positions so that air conditioning is not needed in summer. Rainwater and purified water are used to irrigate the surrounding fields.
