Arctic Aurora

The Arctic Aurora is a sustainable spa, bathhouse, and guest retreat nestled in Bergen's mineral-rich countryside. Drawing inspiration from the Arctic aurora, the design channels the surrounding landscape into a tranquil inner sanctuary through its fluid, flowing form. Anchored by a simple circular geometry that enables water to move freely throughout the building, the program gradually shifts from public to private functions.

Global Crest Kita Omura

It falls in an area of farmland, with the Omura Bay to the west and the mountains stretching majestically to the east. The building is a generous structure that allows visitors to feel the expansive landscape even when indoors: the large roof is supported by thin 75mm steel columns, and the glazed facade creates a visual connection between the vehicle delivery area and the surrounding landscape, enhancing the sense of openness. The thick roof and the series of thin columns accentuate the shingle surface of the roof, creating a subtle and tense appearance.

This design draws inspiration from Confucius' reverence for mountains and water, blending seamlessly with Shandong's terraced landscapes and flowing waterways. The Crevice concept, represented through bold triangular forms and fluid paths, integrates harmoniously with the natural surroundings, reflecting an extension of the earth. It offers a modern interpretation of ancient traditions, shaping a journey that invites visitors to connect deeply with the space, fostering a sense of tranquility and cultural reflection.

Coastal

This architectural villa redefines modern living with its sculptural, flowing rooflines and seamless fusion of luxury and nature. It seamlessly integrates with nature through lush tropical landscaping and biophilic elements like greenery on terraces. Many modern homes incorporate landscaping as an afterthought, but here, lush greenery is an integral part of the design, cascading from terraces and blending the house into its surroundings. This creates a biophilic connection that most contemporary homes lack. Also, this design embraces earthy-toned plaster, natural stone, and warm wood accents.

Village Hall

The building intentionally avoids the vernacular architectural style, and applies modern materials and structure. A big floating roof unifies the formal and informal spaces in a simple way, like a giant open umbrella. In order to achieve the floating and light feeling, the big steel roof not only needs to overcome the large cantilevers and spans, but also needs to keep member as slender as possible. With several structural innovations, a hybrid structure mimics umbrella cantilevers are formed.
