Situated in Ya'an City, Sichuan Province, this project boasts an excellent 270 degree view of tea fields to the south and the Sichuan-Tibet Railway to the north with the tea shore sitting between the undulating hills and surrounded by a green sea of tea. The design narrows the distance between the building and the environment with a focus on visitors' experience and less impact on the nature.

As a supporting project for the 2022 Winter Olympic Games, it has created a benchmark of the most scientific and technological image Medical Center for Zhangjiakou Winter Olympic Games area through integrated design of architecture, landscape and interior.
Continue readingThe PolyCuboid is the new headquarter building for TIA, a company that provides insurance services. The first floor was shaped by the limits of the site and the 700mm diameter water pipe that is crossing the site underground limiting foundation space. The metallic structure dissolves into the diverse blocs of the composition. The pillars and beams vanish from the space syntax, projecting the impression of an object, while also eliminating that of a building. The volumetric design is inspired by TIA’s Logo turning the building itself into an icon representing the company.

The crucial design approach is to integrate its unique educational thinking with the site, and to maximize its spatial efficiency to bring together a pleasantly balanced campus. The school is centered around a highly efficient idea of a “10-minute campus”, where the time for students to circulate and rotate during a compact daily curriculum can be achieved within 10 minutes. A forest is grown within the main building, forming mountains and valleys thanks to the natural topography.

The design of the building focuses on making a positive contribution to the surroundings.Because of the narrow site, the project was to create natural surroundings of the building and keep connection in-between. Due to referencing Chinese garden, the walls give the project its own character, which not only lowed the impact of messy environment, but also create many winding paths and framed beautiful spaces.
Continue readingThe agency responded to the international call for tenders launched in March 2012 by the Government of Rwanda for the design of a new school of architecture. This school, with a capacity of 600 students, will be established on a surface area of 5,600 sqm not far from the existing faculty. For this project the agency started from a simple volume on two levels that it has deformed like tectonics deforms the masses: pull on opposite sides and a central fault is created, this is the outer living space of students.
